Ideas:
Is Your Mama a Llama? Book of the Week Ideas:
- There are many /a/ sounds in this book.  Emphasize them in words like "mama" and "llama".
- Talk about why each animal can't be the llama's mama.
- Talk about the different sounds the animals make.

• Adam and Eve Preschool Bible Story Activities and Color Sheets:
Apple Snake Craft  Apple Snake Craft - Wad up a piece of red tissues paper around a popsicle stick.  Add googly eyes to a pipecleaner.  Mostly hide the pipecleaner in the apple.  With water downed glue, paint the tissue paper to hold together around the stick and pipecleaner.  Add a green leaf to the stick.  Discuss how the apple is beautiful but God sees the whole picture (the hidden snake) and knows what is best for us.
Adam and Eve Apples  Adam and Eve Apples - Print the Adam and Eve Printable.  Cut and color the apples.  Glue one apple to each side of a popsicle stick so they match up.  On one apple, add pompoms to make a worm.  Add googly eyes on the head.  Leave the other apple plain.  Discuss how Adam and Eve saw only want they wanted to see (the beautiful apple).  God saw the whole situation (the wormy side) and knew what was best for them.
- Possible ending to the Bible story - "Even though this was a sad day, when the serpent lied and Adam and Eve disobeyed God, God already had a plan for helping them. His plan was to one day send His Son to Earth to take away sins and bring people back to God!"  Thank you Tauna for this idea.
- More Adam and Eve ideas...

• Colors
- Notice the colors of a stop light
- Foods to Learn from:
Orange:  Carrot sticks, orange, orange jello
Red:  Strawberry, red raspberry, red apple
  Purple:  Grapes, grape juice

• Practice Twos - Count body parts (ears, eyes, feet, legs, hands, etc.) as the child gets dressed or during bath time
  - Pair socks, shoes, gloves

• Letter of the Week
- This is the first week that letters are introduced.  Use the sandpaper letters to teach the child the proper formation of each letter.  Use a consistent "saying" each time you trace the letter.

- For learning the alphabet, create lowercase and uppercase cards or use alphabet flash cards to allow the child to match the uppercase and lowercase letters together, say their name, and say the phonic sound.

- Popsicle Stick A’s: get 3 popsicle sticks and show the child how to make a big A.  Either glue them together when you are done with the lesson or just attach some velcro so the child can create it over and over.  Remind the child that "A" is shaped like a triangle.  Show with popsicle sticks that a big A is shaped like a triangle. Create an "A" and say "A" and then move the stick down and say "triangle."  Thank you Shannon for this idea!

-
Big A, Little a
Write the letters "a, b, c, A, B, C" on 3"x5" cards.  Lay out all six cards and have your child point to the uppercase A and lowercase a.  Shuffle the cards and play again.  This activity can be done with any amount of 3x5 cards labelled with letters or number or using flashcards.

- Letter of the Week Activities
Each letter is linked (under the "Items Needed" heading) to a list of ideas to reinforce the learning of that letter.  Also available to print are Letter Posters.  Create a letter book or individual letter crafts.

333106: Big Thoughts for Little People: ABC Big Thoughts for Little People: ABC's to Help You Grow - This a book that I HIGHLY suggest that you use throughout the curriculum to learn about Jesus as well as work on the ABC's and phonetic sounds.  This is one of the few books that I have given a 5 rating.

• Read and View:
Red Red Red  Red Red Red - A wonderful book to teach the color red and celebrate God's creation.
My A Book  My "A" Book - The My First Step books by Jane Moncure are used throughout the curriculum.  Both the coordinating number and letter books are listed under the "Items Needed" heading.  These books are perfect for reinforcing the phonetic sound of each letter.  Read more.
B-O-Z's and 1-2-3'sBoz:  B-O-Z's and 1-2-3's - Discover God's world while learning letters and numbers.

• Fine Motor Skill:
Using the Peg Puzzles, encourage your child to pick up the puzzle pieces using their thumb and index finger.

• Gross Motor Skill:
Play "Red Light, Green Light" - This game is a fun way to practice the obedience of stopping when told to do so.  Using only the green (go) and red (stop or freeze) concepts of this game, play this game while on a trampoline, doing an activity at the park, or running or walking beside each other.  Teach the child to immediately stop when given the "red light" command.  If the child learns this skill, it can be used in an emergency situation such as a parking lot.
