Ideas:
• Book of the Week Ideas:
Worksheets and Book Questions
Farm Animal Match
• Place a stuffed animal in relationship to your body using spatial words
• Point out to your child that your mouth makes an "o" shape when you say "oh"
• While in the bathtub, use a rubber ducky or bath toy to work on spatial relationships
“Make the Ducky swim behind you.”
• Name activity:
Be sure to read the Learning to Write page for suggestions in making the transition from tracing to writing letters. Only four weeks are devoted to working on individual letters in the child's name. Depending on how well your child is doing and how long his/her name is, you may want to double up on letters. Remember to only work on writing capital letters. Follow this example with the second letter in your child's name. Write the capital letter in yellow and add the green (start) and red (stop) dots.
• Make marshmallow towers
Have the child draw a number from a stack of flashcards. Try to make a tower of marshmallows using that number of marshmallows.
• Wise Man and the Foolish Man - Create a house with large marshmallows. Create another house using Legos. Turn on a fan or hair dryer and see how the houses stand when the "wind" blows. Relate this to the Bible story.
- Get a rock and a pile of sand. Pour water on both and observe the difference.
• Fine Motor Skills:
Using play dough, finger jello, or cookie dough, make letter or number cut outs with number and letter cookie cutters
• Gross Motor Skills:
Play Simon Says using different gross motor movements and activities
