- Crafts: Arks, Noah's Ark, Coloring Mural, Paper Plate Craft, Lift to see Noah (Page 1, Page 2)
- Play the "Noah's Ark" adventure and use the coloring sheet on the Charlie Church Mouse Preschool Cd-Rom. Read more...
- Animal Cracker Round Up - Take a pile of animal crackers and choose two of each kind of animal just like Noah did
• Create a Rainstorm (Original author unknown)
Imagine sitting with Noah's family and the animals on the boat and the storm comes. Have the child help you create the storm by following your lead. Add this activity to a Family Night for more fun!
1. Slowly rub fingertips together (wind coming)
2. Slowly rub hands together (wind getting heavier)
3. Quickly rub hands together (wind getting stronger)
4. Slowly snap fingers (raindrops coming) - This is a very difficult task for a preschooler but the child will have fun trying!
5. Quickly snap fingers (heavy rain)
6. Clap hands (thunder)
7. Clap and then immediately hold hands up with spread fingers and strike downward (lightening)
8. Quickly tap thighs (very hard rainfall)
9. Repeat in reverse order (storm gradually calming down)
10. Make large arch over your head with arms to create a rainbow
• Create Your Own Rainbow
Items Needed - six wide base containers, red/yellow/blue paint, paint brushes and paper
Using the three colors along with mixtures of them, the six colors of the rainbow will be produced (combining indigo and violet)
Mix red and yellow = orange
blue and yellow = green
red and blue = purple
Paint arches of the different colors.
• Letter B Craft- Paint the bottom of the child's foot. Press the feet down on paper with the left foot on the right side and the right foot on the left side. Leave a little space in between for the butterfly's body. Thank you to Crystal for this cute idea!
• Name
- This is the first week that the child will begin to look at the letters in his or her name. Use flashcards, index cards, magnetic letters, or sandpaper letters.
- Sing B-I-N-G-O with your child's name.
Example: There is a Mommy who has a boy and Fred is his name-O
F-R-E-D, F-R-E-D, F-R-E-D
And Fred is his name-O
• Number Three - Read several well known stories about three animals. Three Little Pigs
Three Billy-Goats
Three Bears
Three Little Kittens
• Fine Motor Skill:
Give your child a pair of Children's Safety Scissors and an old magazine. Let them cut, cut, cut. They may want to cut out pictures of items they want or like. This will make a mess; but nothing that a broom and dustpan can't handle! Check out Teaching How to Use Scissors for ideas.
• Gross Motor Skill:
Throw a bean bag to numbers laying on the floor and say the name of the number it lands on. Place numbers on ground and have your child run to the number called.
