Ideas:
• Book of the Week Ideas:
Show your child how to sew on a button.
Talk about the emotions that Corduroy feels through out the book. Discuss times that your child felt that same way.
Play "Find the Button" - Hide a large button and have your child look for it.
Corduroy Story Extension - Although this activity is geared toward older children, there are many suggestions that can be done with 3-year-olds.

Color Bear Matching Game
• Notice numbers on an electric clock
– Let child know that they can get up from quiet time at ____, eat lunch at ___, etc.
– Ask your child to tell you the numbers on the clock
• Ovals – Eggs and plastic Easter Eggs, Oval Ritz crackers
• Hearts – Use heart cookie cutter to cut out sandwiches, lunch meat, cookies, etc.
• Create Your Own Rainbow
Items Needed - 6 wide base containers, red/yellow/blue paint, paint brushes and paper
Using the three colors along with mixtures of them, the six colors of the rainbow will be produced (combining indigo and violet)
Mix red and yellow = orange
blue and yellow = green
red and blue = purple
Paint arches of the different colors.
• Noah's Ark Ideas:
Ark Craft - Print the ark. Write this week's memory verse on the ark. Glue on animal crackers or use pictures or stickers of animals. Explain to the child how Noah showed God love by obeying His commandment to build the ark and collect the animals.

• Create a Rainstorm (Original author unknown)
Imagine sitting with Noah's family and the animals on the boat and the storm comes. Have the child help you create the storm by following your lead. Add this activity to a Family Night for more fun!
1. Slowly rub fingertips together (wind coming)
2. Slowly rub hands together (wind getting heavier)
3. Quickly rub hands together (wind getting stronger)
4. Slowly snap fingers (raindrops coming) - This is a very difficult task for a preschooler but the child will have fun trying!
5. Quickly snap fingers (heavy rain)
6. Clap hands (thunder)
7. Clap and then immediately hold hands up with spread fingers and strike downward (lightening)
8. Quickly tap thighs (very hard rainfall)
9. Repeat in reverse order (storm gradually calming down)
10. Make a large arch over your head with your arms to create a rainbow

• Fine Motor Skills:
Using safety scissors, have your child cut along a thick line drawn on heavy paper (cardstock) - When cutting, remind the child that their dominant hand does the cutting while the other hand moves the paper. Watch that the elbows do not point out while cutting. Check out Teaching How to Use Scissors for ideas.
• Gross Motor Skill:
Do a Memory Obstacle Course - Use a Shape Puzzle to focus on shapes
