Book of the Week:
Good Night Moon  Good Night Moon

Ideas:
• Book of the Week Ideas:
Don't hurry through this book.  Spend time looking at the details in the pictures.  Name the different items.
As you put your child to sleep, tell different objects in your child's room "good night."
Focus on the /g/ sound in the word "good."
Watch the moon in the book and outside.  Notice where it is when you go to bed and when you get up.  Often you can see the moon during the day as well.
Look for different shapes in the pictures.
Printables - Practice Counting
Online coloring activity
Study Guide - color pages and activities

• Look for certain shapes in a grocery store

• Look for traffic signs – discuss color and shape

• Jesus is Always with Me
Have the child choose five things in the room to bring to you.  Place the items in a small area on the floor and place a small blanket over the items.
Ask the child:
 - Can the objects be seen?
 - Are the objects still there even though they can't be seen?
 - How do you know that the objects are still there?
Remove the blanket.  Tell the child:  "Just like our memory verse says, 'When I am afraid, I will trust in you' because Jesus is always with us even though we can't see Him."

• Circle Ideas
Snack Ideas:  Oreos, M&M’s, banana slices, English muffins, pancakes
Preschool Playbook Ideas - circle song and crafts

• Square Ideas
– Food - Waffle, square pretzel, saltine cracker, wheat thins, Cheez-its
- Preschool Playbook has some great craft ideas for teaching squares

Thanksgiving Ideas from ABCJLM

• Fine Motor Skill:
Hide little beads in a large piece of Play Dough or putty.  Using their index finger, have your child find the beads.  Using their thumb is "cheating" and not working the weaker muscles.

• Gross Motor Skill:
Play Twister – taking turns to have you or the child call out a body part to a color.  While the real game will probably be too hard now, have fun matching colors and body parts.
