Week 14 – Review - Thanksgiving - 4th Week of November
Items Needed
Sandpaper Numbers: 0-6
Sandpaper Letters: Aa–Ii
Shapes: Oval, heart, rectangle, triangle, circle, square, star, diamond
Activities: Rolled-up sock, laundry basket, bag or basket, Shape Flashcards, Pilgrim Hat Cookie Ingredients (see below), blank paper, Thanksgiving ideas (see below)
Books: Frog, Where Are You?, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Good Night Moon, The Runaway Bunny
Games: Colorama, Go Fish
Ideas:
• Place all shapes in a bag or basket, feel the shapes without looking and name the shape
• Play Go Fish with numbers and/or letters
• Play Colorama - review shapes and colors
• Shape Flashcards if needed
• Play Big Bird Shape Game - Press any keys on the keyboard and new shapes pop up on the screen
• Do your child’s favorite activities from the previous weeks
• Count Your Blessings:
Make a family tradition to have each person say one thing that they are thankful for before eating the Thanksgiving meal.
• Make: Pilgrim Hat Cookies
Ingredients:
Vanilla frosting
Yellow food coloring
32 miniature peanut butter cups (unwrapped)
32 fudge-striped cookies
32 pieces orange mini Chiclets gum or orange tic-tac
Directions:
In a small bowl, combine frosting and enough food coloring to make the frosting yellow.
Dip the top (wide part) of the peanut butter cup in yellow frosting.
Center the peanut butter cup on the cookie forming a pilgrim hat. Add a buckle using frosting and a piece of Chiclets gum or a tic-tac.
Repeat with the remaining peanut butter cups and cookies.

• Fine Motor Skills:
Write "My Family" on the bottom of a blank piece of paper. Have your child draw his/her family. Your child will be doing this activity periodically throughout the curriculum. Write the date on the back of the picture and save the picture to compare each time. The pictures should become more detailed with time.
• Gross Motor Skills:
Play basketball with a rolled-up sock and a laundry basket.
