How can you thank Jesus today?

Ideas:
• Sequencing
- Have the child tell someone (Daddy, Grandma on the phone) or dictate a letter or email telling someone about their day
- Have the children think of some things they can't do now, but can do when they grow older. What are some things they can do now that they couldn't do when they were younger?  (Idea from Tripod)
- Do a Number Dot-to-Dot Worksheets  - 1 to 21 sequencing numbers
- Do a Letter Dot-to-Dot Worksheets -  A to M sequencing letters

• Letter & Number Ideas:
Weeks 27 - 28 focus on the left over characters that don't really fit anywhere.  Start by creating the characters using play dough snakes or pipe cleaners and move to writing the characters on 1 1/2" tracing paper with yellow lines and green and red dots as a guide.  Use the Characters Worksheet to show the similarities between the "U" and "u."  Be sure to say the Letter Formation Chant as the child creates each character.

• Write Numbers (0-10)
Using 1 1/2" tracing paper, have your child write their numbers (0-10).  Use yellow lines and green and red dots as a guide on numbers that are still a struggle.

• Write Phone Number and Address
Using 1 1/2" tracing paper, have your child write their phone number and address.  Use yellow lines and green and red dots as a guide on numbers that are still a struggle.  Depending on the ability of your child, work on small sections at a time if needed.

Me on the Map  Read the book:  Me on the Map to help your child understand their address as well as sequencing from "me" to the "whole world" - This activity may be taken a step further to recreating the sequence using the child's room to the world map.

• 10 Little Lepers - (Sung to the tune of "Five Little Ducks")
Ten little lepers got healed that day.
But only one leper came back to say.
"Thank you, Jesus, for making me well
Many people I will tell."

Jesus asked, "Where are the nine?
I healed ten bodies and made them fine."
But only one came back to me
Remember God gives to all graciously.

• Red Light, Yellow Light, Green Light (Source unknown)
Use the following signs for each word:
Stop - hold arm straight out in front with palm lifted
Wait - wiggle all fingers out in front
Go - move one arm across the front of the body

Create a scenario and ask the child to choose whether it is best to stop, wait, or go.  Have the child "tell" you with his/her hand motions rather than voices.
 - Walking to a curb on a busy street (stop)
 - Needing a drink at the water fountain but others are already in line (wait)
 - You mom tells you to come and help set the table (go)

• It is very important that your child knows their phone number and address.  In Lesson 17, your child learned how to dial 911.  Using play phones, practice calling 911 and report an emergency.  Have your child tell the "dispatcher" their full name, phone number, and address.  Always remind your child that 911 is for emergencies only.  Talk about what constitutes an emergency.
