Start by creating the letters with popsicle sticks for the straight lines and playdoh snakes or pipecleaners for the bubbles and writing on yellow lines with green and red dots.
Use the Bubble Characters worksheet to show the progression of the letters and numbers
Use the bubble of the "D" for the first formation of the "2"
The bottom of the "5" is like the bubble of the "p"

• Discuss the song "Jesus Love the Little Children"

• “Left to Right is the way we Read and Write!”  Author unknown
Trace and cut out left hand on green paper, right hand on red paper.  Place left hand to the left of page where you are to read or write and the red hand to the right. Teach your child to always start at the left (green hand – go), and stop at the right (red hand – stop).

-Read numbers on an alarm clock.  Place green hand and right hand on sides of an electric clock.
-Have your child help hold the green hand on left side or red hand on the right side of a book as you read.  Point to the words as you read.
-Tie a red ribbon around the right hand

• Focus on left and right throughout the week – reading left to right, how a computer types left to right across the page, etc.

• Practicing using a pretend phone to call 911.  Have you child tell the operator their name, phone number, and full address.

• Play Uppercase and Lowercase Alphabet Memory

• Read
Foot Book  Dr. Seuss’ Foot Book - A fun book of opposites
Opposites  Opposites - another fun book by Sandra Boynton

• Fine Motor Skills:
Finger paint numbers and letters learned

• Gross Motor Skills:
Have your child stand opposite you with about seven feet separating you.  Before throwing a large soft ball or beach ball toward you child, say "right", "left", or "both".  Depending on what you say, have your child bat the ball away with that hand(s).  This requires another level of thinking.  At first, have your child show you which hand(s) they will use.  As they improve, give less time before the ball is thrown.

• Visual Perception Skill:
Mazes

• Worksheets are listed as items needed for the 4 Year Old Curriculum.  Check out the Learning to Write page to understand how to use these worksheets effectively.
