Ideas:
• Letter & Number Ideas:
Week 13 focuses on the "circle characters " - Compare how the zero and "O" are the same as an oval or circle
Start by creating the characters using play dough snakes or pipe cleaners and move to writing the characters on 1 1/2" tracing paper with yellow lines and green and red dots as a guide. If needed, create 3" characters using yellow lines and green and red dots as a transition to the tracing paper. Use the Circle Characters worksheet to show the progression of the letters and numbers. Be sure to say the Letter Formation Chant or Number Rhyme as the child creates each character.
Point out to your child that your mouth makes an "o" shape when you say "oh" - circle the "o" shape with your finger
Letter Q - Just for fun, make an "oh" shape with our mouth and then stick out your tongue to the side to make the line to form a "Q".
• Phone etiquette
Continue practicing answering the phone using play phones and the real phone
• Play the “Opposites Game”
“I am going to say and word and I want you to say the opposite.” (i.e., Day/Night, Off/On, Over/Under)
• My Young Child Character Education Story - read online for free or print. Be sure to do the discussion and activities for each book.
-Rosa Takes Responsibility
-I am a Big Kid
• Wise Man and the Foolish Man - Create a house with large marshmallows. Create another house using little Legos. Turn on a fan or hair dryer and see how the houses stand when the "wind" blows. Relate this to the Bible Story.
