When you place money in the offering at church, you are giving to God.  What are other ways you can give to God?

Book of the Week:
Go Dog, Go! Go Dog, Go!

Ideas:
Go Dog, Go! Book of the Week Ideas:
- Because of this book's rhyming lines and descriptive illustrations, this book is an easy one for preschool kids to "read" out loud to others
- Dog Activities and Crafts - First School and DLTK
- Make a dog puppet and have the puppet tell the story

• The Widow's Offering Preschool Bible Story Activities & Color Sheets:
- Further help the child understand the difference in the rich man's offering and the widow's by using money or tokens.  Give one person many coins and the other person two.  Have both put his/her offering in the box.  Look at what is left in each pile.  Discuss how the widow gave all while the rich man had much left.
Coin Rub  - Coin rubbings - Gather a quarter, dime, nickel, and penny.  Discuss how each of the coins are different in size and worth.  Notice how the coins have different designs for the head and tail.  Tape each coin to the back of a piece of paper to hold in place.  Flip over and color over each coin to create an impression.  Flip the coins over to make an impression of the opposite side.
- My Coin  My Coin - Draw a circle and have the child draw his/her face or body on it.  Add the amount of the coin and the date (just like on a real coin).
- As a family choose a place to serve and give (i.e. Local Soup Kitchen, help an elderly neighbor, make cookies for someone, give to Good Will, Samaritan's Purse
- Memory Verse Coloring Sheet

• Character Education - Giving Activities:
- Make cookies or bread to give to friends, neighbors, or teachers.  Let the child give the food to the chosen person.  Discuss how they felt giving to others.

• Letter & Number Ideas:
Weeks 5-9 focus on "angled-line letters."  Start by creating the characters using short and long popsicle sticks and move to writing the characters on 1 1/2" tracing paper with yellow lines and green and red dots as a guide.  Use the Angled Line Characters #1 worksheet to show the progression of the letters and numbers.  Be sure to say the Letter Formation Chant or Number Rhyme as the child creates each character.

v - looks like a valley.  Go online and find pictures of valleys
w - to help remember the letter "W", demonstrate how a "W" will hold water by drawing water lines in the "valleys"

• Name:
Continue to have the child practice writing their name on 1 1/2" tracing paper.  View Learning to Write to decide the appropriate level of difficulty to start for your child.

• Spatial:
- Make a point to discuss right and left as you drive, put on socks, put on a coat, etc.
- Move toys spatially

• Color By Number Worksheet - color and cut out the ball when finished.  As you read the directions, point to the words.  Allow the child to read the numbers and figure out the color needed by looking at the first letter.  (i.e.,  What is the first letter of this word - y.  "Y" says? - /y/.  What color begins with the /y/ sound?)

• Place magnetic refrigerator numbers (1, 4) and letters (Tt, Ii, E, F, Ll, H, Vv, Ww) into a bag.  Have your child draw out a number or letter.  Have the child tell you:  the color, name, sound, and case (uppercase or lowercase) of the letter and number.

• Pragmatic Activity
Pragmatics is the study of language in a social setting.  Included in the 4 Year Curriculum are suggestions to help a child use language appropriately in social situations.  Select one or more of the example pages to discuss.

• Fine Motor Skill:
Paint using cotton swabs (Q-tips)

• Gross Motor Skill:
