• Letter & Number Ideas:
Weeks 1-4 focus on "straight-line letters" - characters made with straight lines only.  Start by creating the characters using short and long popsicle sticks and move to writing the characters on 1 1/2" tracing paper with yellow lines and green and red dots as a guide.  Use the Line Characters worksheet to show the progression of the letters and numbers.  Be sure to say the Letter Formation Chant or Number Rhyme as the child creates each character.

• Name:
Last week the child reviewed tracing his or her name using sandpaper letters.  If the child is ready, place the child's name on 1 1/2" tracing paper.  View Learning to Write to decide the appropriate level of difficulty to start for your child.

• Play "Simon Says" to coincide with the obedience theme.

• Teaching Emotions
Many children struggle understanding facial expressions and emotions.  Using the faces worksheets, work on understanding various emotions that child see, read about, and feel.  Various ideas are listed on the Teaching Emotions page.  Incorporate this activity with the Bible story discussing:
 - How did God feel when Noah obeyed?
 - How did the animals feel when it started to rain?
 - How did Noah's family feel about those people who refused to listen to God?

• Create a Rainstorm (Original author unknown)
Imagine sitting with Noah's family and the animals on the boat and the storm comes.  Have the child help you create the storm by following your lead.  Add this activity to a Family Night for more fun!
1.  Slowly rub fingertips together (wind coming)
2.  Slowly rub hands together (wind getting heavier)
3.  Quickly rub hands together (wind getting stronger)
4.  Slowly snap fingers (raindrops coming) - This is a very difficult task for a preschooler but the child will have fun trying!
5.  Quickly snap fingers (heavy rain)
6.  Clap hands (thunder)
7.  Clap and then immediately hold hands up with spread fingers and strike downward (lightening)
8.  Quickly tap thighs (very hard rainfall)
9.  Repeat in reverse order (storm gradually calming down)
10.  Make large arch over your head with arms to create a rainbow
