Let me introduce myself. Those on the web call me Momma C, but I am known to my friends and family as Heidi and called Mommy by our four children. A farm girl at heart, we are raising our family as close to country life as we can surrounded by trees and rolling pastures in Arkansas. My normal day consists of waking up to time with my Savior, answering your emails, cooking, cleaning, playing, teaching, laughing, loving, going to bed and doing it all over again! You can find out more about Our Story on our blog.
Growing up in a family of educators, I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher. Not because I felt pressured but because I felt that being a teacher was God’s calling on my life. I was being called to be a missionary to kids. After graduating with a Bachelors in Education degree, I taught for one year in a private school followed by four wonderful years in the public schools. When my husband and I found out that we were expecting our first child, I knew God was calling me to pull back from teaching others' children and to focus on raising our own.
A farm girl at heart, we are raising our family as close to country life as we can surrounded by trees and rolling pasture land in Arkansas. My normal day consists of waking up to time with my Savior, answering your emails, cooking, cleaning, playing, teaching, laughing, loving, going to bed and doing it all over again. I continue to teach private piano which I have done for 20 years. In December 2007, I graduated with a Masters in Education (Pre-K to 12th Grade). My husband and I continue to be active in our church where we serve preschool children as well as adults. When I have free time, I enjoy reading, gardening, scrapbooking, and hanging with my friends. My absolutely favorite thing to do is laugh with my friends and family.
After originally creating ABC Jesus Loves Me, I realized that I needed to take the website down a different path. In the fall of 2008, I added gross and motor skill activities as well as sensory and visual perception activities. It has been through speech, occupational, and visual therapy with our son that I realized that the curriculum was only geared to certain children. I wanted to expand the curriculum to encompass those children with developmental delays. In July 2011, the 2 Year Curriculum was added as well.
You can follow our sister blog - Our Out of Sync Life - to watch how we are learning to raise a son with Sensory Processing Disorder and developmental delays, a very Strong-Willed middle child, a Spirited Little Man, and our precious baby boy. Also learn how we incorporate the ABC Jesus Loves Me curriculum into our daily lives and read honest product reviews. Daily posts include techniques on discipline, reviews, recipes, teaching, encouragement, holiday suggestions, and life as a Mom, to name a few.
In April 2009, the third blog was added - Interrupted Expectations. This is a blog to help those who hurt due to life's interrupted expectations. Suggestions are given to help in the healing process. I also realized that people truly want to help but they don't know what to do. Throughout the blog are suggestions of how to help people when different interrupted expectations arise. My prayer is that God will use this website to help those who are hurting.
God has given me a passion for children and moms. He took this passion and created these sites. I am humbled and extremely excited to be His vessel to help families, churches, and preschools teach children the Good News of Jesus.
