Let me introduce myself. I will call myself "Momma C" which comes from a childhood nickname.
Growing up in a family of educators, I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher. Not because I felt pressured that way but because I felt that being a teacher was God’s calling on my life. God was calling me to be a missionary to kids. After graduating with a Bachelors in Education degree, I taught for one year in a private school followed by four wonderful years in the public schools. When my husband and I found out that we were expecting our first child, I knew God was calling me to pull back from teaching others' children and to focus on raising our own.
Currently, I am a stay at home mom raising our three children. I continue to teach private piano which I have done for 17 years. In December 2007, I graduated with a Masters in Education (Pre-K to 12th Grade). My husband and I continue to be very active in our church where we serve with the preschool children as well as adults.
After originally creating ABC Jesus Loves Me, I realized that I needed to take the website down a different path. In the fall of 2008, I added gross and motor skill activities as well as sensory and visual perception activities. It has been through speech, occupational, and visual therapy with our son that I realized that the curriculum was only geared to certain children. I wanted to expand the curriculum to encompass those children with developmental delays. You can follow our family blog - Our Out of Sync Life - to watch how we are learning to raise a son with Sensory Processing Disorder and developmental delays.
In April 2009, I added a third blog - Interrupted Expectations. This is a blog to help those who hurt due to life's interrupted expectations. These blogs are written by people who have experienced pain. Suggestions are given to help in the healing process. I also realized that people truly want to help but they don't know what to do. Throughout the blog are suggestions of how to help people when different interrupted expectations arise. My prayer is that God will use this website to help those who are hurting.
