Quick question. When doing the pre/post checklist to check what they know already, when do you check it off as them knowing it? For example on shapes. He can pick out shapes correctly if you ask him to show you which is the rectangle, but he just doesn't say the name rectangle. Would you go ahead and mark off that he knows rectangle because he knows how to pick it out by name or would you wait until he can say the name of it as well?

That's a good question.

The purpose of the checklist is to give you an idea of what your child knows. Mark up the checklist however you need to.

There is a 3-step process to learning - Introduction, Recognize, Identify. You have already introduced the concept and your child can recognize the shapes. With time, he will be able to identify as well. This process varies from child to child and concept to concept.
