These are letter formation sayings that I started using with our kiddos while teaching them letter formation. They really stuck with them as they learned to correctly form the letters. I tried to use the same word to match the same pencil moment throughout the alphabet.
- line/body - top line to bottom line
down - middle line to bottom line
curve - "c" creation
bubble - one line bubble to next
roof - horizontal line on top line
floor - horizontal line on bottom line
blue - top line
green - bottom line
valley - "v" formation
A - pull down, pull down, across
a - curve and down
B - line, bubble, bubble
b - bat and a ball
C - curve around
c - curve around
D - line, around and back
d - curve and line
E - body, head, arm, leg
e - dash and a curve
F - body, head, arm
f - staff with arms
G - curve and a dash
g - curve with a hook
H - line, line, arm
h - line and hump
I - body, roof, floor
i - down and dot
J - hook and a roof
j - hook and a dot
K - Line, blue kick in, kick out
k - Line, green kick in, kick out
L - Line and leg
l - line
M - line, valley, line
m - down, hump 1, hump 2
N - line and valley
n - down and hump
O - big curve and close
o - little curve and close
P - line and bubble
p - green line and bubble
Q - big curve, close, add a tongue
q - curve and hook back
R - line, bubble, kick out
r - down with an arm
S - snake around
s - snake around
T - body and roof
t - down and cross
U - cup it up
u - cup it up then down
V - big valley
v - little valley

X - criss, cross

Z - roof, zag back, floor
