Flexible Schedule

Preschool Curriculum for Any Schedule

The ABCJesusLovesMe Curriculum is designed to fit almost any schedule, from a single day a week to full-time preschool. On average, it provides 9–12 months of learning, giving the child a strong foundation in academics, Bible, and development. This page will show how to adjust lesson plans and schedules - more weeks and less days - to meet the needs of your child or classroom.

Cover More Weeks

Each Preschool Curriculum includes 36 Lesson Plans, which typically cover 9–12 months of learning. The plans are designed without built-in time for establishing routines at the start of the year or for most holiday activities—except for one Christmas (Week 18) and one Easter Bible story (Week 32). This gives you flexibility to set classroom expectations, decide when to add holidays, and adjust for bad weather or planned closures.

Setting Great Expectations

To start the school year, I suggest spreading the Week 1 Lesson Plan over 2–3 weeks. This allows the child to get familiar with the classroom and for routines and procedures to be established. Through play, the child can learn:

  • What to do when entering the classroom
  • Where to place personal items
  • Expectations for circle time
  • How to line up for travel
  • Lunch/snack procedures
  • Nap procedures
  • Bathroom use
  • Center Expectations

This extra time also gives you the opportunity to use the pre-assessment (included in the Activity Book) to gauge each child’s understanding and development. Most importantly, remember that children learn best through repetition.

Holiday Activities

For holidays, I recommend spreading the Lesson Plan over multiple weeks depending on the holiday’s complexity. The ABCJesusLovesMe website provides hundreds of fun holiday activities, books, and crafts that can be incorporated into these weeks.

Important Note

No matter the changes made, it is important to begin with Week 1 and keep the Lesson Plans in order, as each lesson builds on the previous one. Have specific questions? LiveChat with me.

Cover Less Days

The Preschool Curriculum Lesson Plans are flexible enough to fit 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 days of learning each week. This works because children learn through repetition and the ABCJesusLovesMe Curriculum provides multiple ways to instill the same objective.

Each example below demonstrates how to combine activities so the child experiences the same concepts, skills, and Bible stories without feeling rushed. The ideas also help the adult confidently teach at a good own pace. Have specific questions? LiveChat with me.
